Present Continuous Tense

Present Continuous Tense adalah bentuk waktu yang digunakan untuk tindakan yang sedang berlangsung sekarang atau peristiwa ketika kita berbicara serta dapat juga digunakan untuk rencana di masa yang akan datang namun sudah pasti waktu kejadiannya.

Keterangan waktu (adverb of time) yang sering digunakan dalam Present Continuous Tense adalah :

now, right now, at present, at this moment, today, this morning, this weekend, tonight, in a few weeks.

Pola Kalimat

(+) Subyek+ to be(is/am/are) + V-ing + Obyek/Complement

(-) Subyek+ to be( is/am/are + not) + V-ing + Obyek/Complenent

(?) to be (Is/Am/Are) + Subyek + V-ing + Obyek/Compement

To be:

- is untuk subyek tunggal he, she, it

- am untuk subyek I untuk subyek I

- are untuk subyek jamak You, We, They

Example:

(+) He is reading a book now. (Dia sedang membaca sebuah buku sekarang) 

(-)  He is not reading a book now. (Dia tidak sedang membaca buku sekarang. 

(?) Is he reading a book now? (Apakah dia sedang membaca buku sekarang) 

Rumus jawab yes or no

Yes,  he is (yes+subyek+to be) 

No,  he isn't (No, subyek+to be+not)

Penggunaan

• Present Continuous Tense digunakan untuk menyatakan perbuatan yang sedang berlangsung pada saat ini.
  Contoh :

I am studying English now.

• Present Continuous Tense juga digunakan untuk membicarakan sesuatu yang direncanakan atau akan terjadi di masa datang.
  Contoh :

I am starting piano lesson soon.
