Short Message (Materi Bahasa Inggris Kelas 8 Semester Genap KD.3.12) 

Kita pasti pernah mengirim sebuah pesan kepada teman, keluarga atau mungkin ke rekan kerja kita, salah satu alasan kenapa kita menulis/mengirim pesan kepada mereka adalah karena tidak dimungkinkan kita untuk bisa bertemu langsung ataupun mungkin dalam keadaan yang penting, karena dengan kecanggihan teknologi zaman sekarang mengirim pesan lebih cepat dan mudah seperti SMS (Short Message Service).

Bahkan dalam sehari, seseorang bisa mengirimkan pesan pendek dalam jumlah banyak, lebih dari satu. Namun, apa sebenarnya pengertian pesan pendek atau short message itu? Kapan short message digunakan? Apa saja yang harus tertera dalam short message? Berikut ini akan dijelaskan mengenai pengertian dari short message beserta contohnya. Let’s check it out!

Definition of Short Message

Short Message is a short message that is used to convey something to others that the person is doing or not doing something because we can not meet directly to the people we will give the message.

Pengertian Short Message

Short message adalah bentuk teks pendek/pesan singkat yang digunakan untuk menyampaikan sesuatu kepada orang lain agar orang tersebut melakukan atau tidak melakukan sesuatu karena kita tidak bisa bertemu secara langsung kepada orang yang akan kita beri pesan tersebut.

Pesan pendek biasanya ditulis dalam bentuk secarik kertas ataupun juga bisa dikirim melalui alat elektronik yaitu SMS.

B. Jenis-Jenis Short Message

Beberapa jenis short message yang biasa ditemukan di sekitar Anda. Jenis short message yang sering dijumpai antara lain:

1. Memo
Memo merupakan catatan penting yang biasa ditulis untuk menyampaikan informasi secara singkat dan padat. Memo biasanya hanya terdiri dari 2 hingga 3 kalimat yang singkat namun padat dan informatif. Berikut ini adalah contoh memo:
– Good luck for today. We love you!
– I left 2 pizza slices on fridge. Enjoy it!
– Go for break. We'll come back soon.

2. SMS (Short Message Service)
Pesan yang sering Anda kirim melalui telepon merupakan salah satu jenis short message. Pesan ini sedikit lebih panjang dari memo. SMS juga mengandung kalimat yang padat dan informatif. Berikut ini adalah contoh SMS:
– Sorry, I’ll be late for dinner. I will be there as soon as my tasks finished.
– Are you at home? I will stop by in 10 minutes. See you soon!

3. Greeting card
Greeting card berisi ucapan atas suatu kejadian seperti ulang tahun, kelahiran, promosi jabatan dan lain sebagainya. Greeting card dapat disesuaikan dengan kebutuhan. Berikut ini adalah contoh greeting card:

Happy birthday, honey. I wish you a happy life!

– To: Mrs. Johnson
Congratulations for your newborn baby. He is cute!
